What is a Florida Class I Wildlife Bond?

A Florida Class I Wildlife Surety Bond is one way the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission regulates the exhibition of class I wildlife. The Florida Class I Wildlife Bond ensures that the exhibitor will indemnify an injured party should an injury occur or other damage result from the exhibited class I wildlife and comply with the laws of Florida and the Commission governing the capturing, keeping, possessing, or exhibiting class I wildlife.  In its simplest form, the bond guarantees financial responsibility for the previously mentioned activities.

What animals are considered Class I Wildlife?

What is the Florida Class I Wildlife Surety Bond amount?

The amount for the Florida Class I Wildlife Surety Bond is $10,000. The bond form is continuous in nature which means it does not expire until a cancellation notice is received from the surety company.  The surety company must also give 30 days notice to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission prior to the effective cancellation date.   Additionally, the Florida Class I Wildlife Bond liability amount shall not exceed the penal sum of $10,000 regardless of the number of years the surety bond is in effect and the number of premiums which have been paid or are payable.

Yes, you will need a permit for public exhibition, sale, and personal possession of class I, II, and III wildlife according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.  Additionally, you will need a license to keep, capture, exhibit, or possess reptiles of concern and venomous reptiles.
